The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Holds a Meeting to Discuss the Report on the Work of the Government

On February 28, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting to deliberate the draft of the Report on the Work of the Government, which the State Council intends to submit for consideration at the Third Session of the 14th National People’s Congress. The meeting was presided over by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting noted that over the past year, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has maintained a holistic view and responded calmly to challenges, uniting and leading the entire Party and all ethnic groups across the country in successfully accomplishing the major goals and tasks for economic and social development. China’s economy has generally remained stable while making steady progress; high-quality development has been steadily advanced; overall social stability has been maintained; and new, solid strides have been made in Chinese modernization.
The meeting emphasized that this year marks the concluding year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. To deliver effective government performance, we must operate under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party and the Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, follow the arrangements made at the Central Economic Work Conference, adhere to the general principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability, comprehensively, accurately, and thoroughly apply the new development philosophy, accelerate the establishment of a new development pattern, solidly promote high-quality development, further deepen reform across the board, expand high-standard opening-up, build a modern industrial system, better coordinate development and security, implement more proactive and effective macro policies, expand domestic demand, promote the integrated development of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, stabilize the property and stock markets, prevent and defuse risks in key areas and external shocks, anchor market expectations and invigorate economic vitality, thereby driving sustained recovery and improvement in the economy, continuously raising living standards, maintaining social harmony and stability, and ensuring the high-quality completion of the goals and tasks set forth in the 14th Five-Year Plan, thus laying a solid foundation for a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan.
