On December 25, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting to hear a report on the work of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission and to deliberate and make arrangements for the work of building a sound Party style and clean government and combating corruption in 2026. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.
The meeting noted that in 2025, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, together with discipline inspection and supervision organs at all levels, will thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, particularly General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on Party building and on the Party’s self-revolution; continuously advance efforts to promote integrity and clean governance and combat corruption; focus on “two upholds” to strengthen political oversight; carry out in-depth study and education on fully implementing the spirit of the CPC Central Committee’s Eight-Point Decision on Improving Conduct; maintain a high-pressure anti-corruption stance; further advance the integrated investigation and treatment of misconduct and corruption; resolutely address unhealthy practices and corruption that affect the people; achieve full coverage of inspection tours across all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government; promote the improvement of the Party and state supervision system; launch the “Year of Standardization, Rule of Law, and Institutionalization in Discipline Inspection and Supervision Work” campaign; and make new progress and achieve new results in promoting the high-quality development of discipline inspection and supervision work.
The meeting emphasized that in 2026, disciplinary inspection and supervision organs at all levels must uphold Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as their guiding principle, deeply understand the decisive significance of the “two establishments,” resolutely safeguard the “two upholds,” and advance full and rigorous Party self-governance with higher standards and more concrete measures, thereby providing strong guarantees for economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Political oversight must be deepened and made more effective in support of achieving the goals and tasks set for the 15th Five-Year Plan period, so as to encourage Party members and cadres to foster and practice a correct view of political achievements and ensure that the major decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee are fully implemented. We must consolidate and expand the achievements of study and education on thoroughly implementing the spirit of the CPC Central Committee’s Eight-Point Decision on Improving Conduct, promote the institutionalization and long-term effectiveness of style-of-work building, continue to intensify targeted rectification of unhealthy practices and corruption close to the people, and deliver more tangible and accessible results that win the trust of the masses. We must cage power within the confines of institutions, strengthen oversight, discipline enforcement, and accountability, and effectively enhance the enforceability of systems and regulations. We must unswervingly advance the fight against corruption—without pause and without any compromise—deepen efforts to address both the symptoms and root causes, and integrate the promotion of an environment in which no one dares to be corrupt, no one is able to be corrupt, and no one wants to be corrupt, so as to continuously enhance the overall effectiveness of anti-corruption governance. We must also continually strengthen the standardization, rule-of-law orientation, and regularization of disciplinary inspection and supervision work, with a focus on forging a highly disciplined and capable contingent of inspectors and supervisors.
Previously, General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, where he heard a report on the work of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission in 2025 and on preparations for the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
