Bear in mind our original aspiration and mission; carry forward the red gene.

In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to inspire a sense of historical responsibility and mission among all Party members, and to further enhance the Party organization’s appeal, cohesion, and combat effectiveness, from July 7 to 9 the Party branch of Wuchan Daofu conducted a themed Party Day activity in Longyan, Fujian, under the theme “Bear in Mind Our Original Aspiration and Mission, Inherit the Red Gene.” During this activity, participants gained a profound understanding of the vital and irreplaceable contributions made by the old revolutionary base area of Western Fujian—once the site of the Soviet areas of the CPC—to the liberation of the whole country, the founding of New China, the building of the Party, and the development of the armed forces.

On the afternoon of July 7, Teacher Xu Zhaoshan, Secretary-General of the Research Association on the Spirit of the Gutian Conference, delivered a special lecture titled “The Gutian Conference: A Milestone in the History of Party and Military Building,” providing a detailed analysis of the conference’s unique historical context, its meticulous and authentic proceedings, and its profound historical significance. He emphasized that more than 90 years ago, Comrade Mao Zedong convened the Gutian Conference, kindling the blazing bonfire of “building the Party through ideology and building the military through politics,” which cast a radiant light of faith in the darkness and guided the Party and the Red Army along their arduous journey to ultimate victory.

On the morning of July 8, all Party members of the Wuchan Daofu Party Branch visited the Site of the Gutian Conference for study and inspection. Facing the Party flag, the Party members solemnly took the oath of admission, reaffirming their commitment to the Party and keeping firmly in mind their original aspiration and mission. To the north of the Gutian Conference Site, the Chairman Mao Memorial Park is majestically set against the mountainside, exuding a sense of solemnity and reverence. The Party members reflected on the past and present, bowed three times before the statue of Chairman Mao, and laid wreaths at its base, deeply commemorating his outstanding achievements. The group also visited the Gutian Conference Memorial Hall. Looking back at the history of Gutian and revisiting those momentous events, we must draw strength from the enduring truth that “shines forever,” bear in mind the “three musts,” and strive to be steadfast defenders of the “two establishments” and unwavering supporters of the “two safeguards.”

On the afternoon of July 7, Comrade Shen Lixia, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairperson of the Board, delivered a special Party lecture on the theme of “the ‘Eight-Eight Strategy’ and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.” She pointed out that Zhejiang is an important birthplace and practical ground for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The major strategic decisions and arrangements embodied in the “Eight-Eight Strategy” put forward by Comrade Xi Jinping during his tenure in Zhejiang are the fundamental reason behind Zhejiang’s transformation from a large economic province into a strong economic province, from overall moderate prosperity to high-standard, all-round moderate prosperity, and from a major open province to one deeply integrated into the global economy, fully demonstrating the truth and practical power of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

On the afternoon of July 8, all Party members visited the Tomb of the Unknown Red Army Martyrs and the Memorial Monument to the Martyrs of the Songmaoling Campaign of the Central Soviet Area in Liancheng County, toured the Guogongzhai Command Post, the “Protect the Red” Tree, and the trench fortifications, and participated in an experiential training session involving the transport of food and ammunition to support the front lines.

The Battle of Songmaoling was the Fifth Counter-Encirclement Campaign’s final engagement for the Red Army in Fujian before the Long March, and it was an exceptionally brutal battle. In this battle, more than ten thousand nameless Red Army soldiers fell on Songmaoling, buying precious time for the Central Red Army’s strategic relocation. Before the memorial site complex commemorating the Battle of Songmaoling, party-member volunteers stood solemnly before the graves of the nameless Red Army martyrs, bowed in tribute, deeply commemorated the great achievements of their revolutionary predecessors, and expressed their profound respect for the Red Army martyrs. As they made their way along the narrow, winding path leading to the battle site, they personally experienced the hardships endured by the revolutionaries of that era.

On the morning of July 9, the group visited the Central Soviet Area (Western Fujian) History Museum in Longyan City. A docent provided a detailed overview of the historical evolution of the Western Fujian Central Soviet Area, the establishment of local Party organizations, and the incubation and formation of Mao Zedong Thought. The participants listened attentively, gaining a thorough understanding—through numerous photographs, authentic artifacts, and historical documents—of the early development of the Party Central Committee, the lives of its early leaders, and the continuous growth and strengthening of the Soviet area. They deeply appreciated the pioneering spirit and arduous struggle of the early Communists.

This Party Day activity, themed “Bear in Mind Our Original Aspiration and Mission, Inherit the Red Gene,” is not only a journey of learning about our revolutionary history but also a profound spiritual cleansing that reawakens the red gene within each of us. We must remember the past, reflect on the present, stay true to our original aspiration, keep our mission firmly in mind, carry forward the red spirit, strengthen our ideals and convictions, work diligently and strive for progress, and step up to the mission and responsibilities entrusted to us by history and the times. Let us forge ahead in the new era and make outstanding contributions on this new journey!
