Vietnamese HRC import market moves up

Vietnam’s hot rolled coil import market rose last week after the conclusion of several deals, Kallanish notes.
A petition for a new anti-dumping investigation against wide-width Chinese HRC imports into Vietnam put forward to Vietnam’s Trade Remedies Authority has sounded the death knell of the Chinese HRC export supply to Vietnam (see separate report).
A deal for 30,000 tonnes of Indonesian SAE1006/SS400 3mm base thickness HRC for shipment by end-December was heard concluded at $505-508/tonne cfr Vietnam. “It was a position cargo, and most are destined for buyers in Ho Chi Minh City,” a Vietnamese trader says.
Another Indonesian mill is offering 3mm base SS400 HRC at $510/t cfr Vietnam, with $10/t extra for 2.8mm thickness, for shipment by early January 2026.
Indian SAE 1006 HRC was recently booked at $505-507/t cfr Vietnam. A deal for 30,000t 2-4mm thickness SAE 1006 HRC was done at $507/t cfr Vietnam for November shipment during the previous week ended 12 September (Kallanish passim 16 Sep 2025)

Chinese wide-width HRC remains available for now, but buyers are bidding low amid the threat of anti-dumping action.
Chinese HRC was offered at $496-498/t cfr Vietnam last week for 2m wide 3mm thickness Q235 grade HRC for shipment by 30 November.
Another trader says he has an offer for 1.9/2.0m, 3mm thickness HRC from China for shipment by 15 November at $499-502/t cfr Vietnam. But he does not hear of deals concluded. “I heard that buyers are bidding at only $490-493/t cfr,” he said.

Kallanish assessed SAE grade 2-2.7mm thickness HRC at $505-508/t cfr Vietnam, up from $500-505/t cfr week-on-week.
