NSC increases 300 series prices in October

Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC) is to raise its offer levels for nickel-based (300 series) products by JPY 5,000/tonne ($33/t) month-on-month in October due to increased alloy costs, while keeping prices for chromium-based (400 series) products unchanged, Kallanish notes.
The nickel benchmark price used by NSC for October sales rebounded for the first time in six months, reversing the losses in September and rising approximately 0.3% m-o-m to $6.81/lb. Meanwhile, the chromium benchmark price remained at $1.53/lb. Additionally, the exchange rate used for raw materials procurement depreciated by around 0.4% versus the earlier month to 148.85 JPY/Dollar.
The most traded stainless steel contract on Shanghai Futures Exchange, however, slipped around 0.2% in the past month.
