Kardemir secures $27m railway wheel export deal
Turkish integrated steel producer Kardemir has signed its first purchase agreement with the Algerian National Railway Transport Company for a railway wheel supply programme, with a total contract value of $26.99 million.
The deal represents the highest export contract value secured under a single contract over the past five years, Kallanish notes from its bourse filing.
The latest contract follows railway wheel export agreements worth $2.48m, $2.25m and $2.9m with customers in Bulgaria and two separate contracts in Czech Republic.
Kardemir is currently the only domestic producer in Türkiye capable of manufacturing both rails and railway wheels.
